Dear Society Members and Friends,
We are ending a great year, having completed three outstanding scholarly panels at the American Literature Association Meeting in May, with the successful relaunch of the Biennial Conference Series and the placement of our 20 th Bench by the Road at the Schomburg Library in July, a wonderful Society Lecture by Professor Tessa Roynon at Oberlin College in September, and the launch of a new Fall Membership Campaign (October 1-31).
Our membership continues to grow, and next year we will elect new officers at the American Literature Association Meeting in Boston, May 25-28, 2017. We will also host two scholarly panels and present the Toni Morrison Society Book Prize at the ALA meeting.
In the coming year, we hope to launch three Young Reader Circles in Oberlin, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; and Washington, D.C. and complete a new NEH grant proposal for a Summer Institute for High School Teachers. Over the next five years, we will identify 20 new sites for Bench Placements.
We look forward to a great year that will provide continued opportunities for scholarly engagement in the work to Toni Morrison. Your Annual Fund Contribution will help us facilitate this important work. On behalf of the Board and the Officers, thank you, again, for all the many ways that you support the programs and operations of the Toni Morrison Society.
