FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I submit a proposal so that I can receive a letter for funding from my Institution?

A: Complete the principal discussant sign-up form, where you can choose which Roundtable Plenary you want to join as a Principal Discussant. Once you have listed your choices in order of preference and submitted your registration form, you will receive an acceptance letter on Toni Morrison Society letterhead confirming your assignment and your panel topic. This letter will serve as your official conference invitation for submission to your institution.

Q: What are my responsibilities as a Principal Discussant?

A: As a Principal Discussant, you will be responsible for giving thoughtful and informed consideration of the topic prior to the session, preparing critical questions to discuss during the session, and synthesizing the presentations of the Plenary Panel directly related to this Roundtable Discussion Session. You might also be asked by the Roundtable participants to report back to the entire Conference when Session Roundtables reconvene.

Q: What does my registration fee include?

A: Registration includes access to and participation in all Plenary sessions; breakfasts and lunches as listed on the Conference schedule; the Welcoming Reception on Thursday evening; the Authors' and Editors' Luncheon on Saturday; the 85th Birthday Gala Reception and Banquet on Saturday night; and bus transportation to and from the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture for the Bench by the Road Placement on Sunday afternoon.

A: The Toni Morrison Society has reserved a block of rooms at a very special rate for conference participants at the Roosevelt Hotel, 45 East 45th Street, New York, New York, 10017, the site of the Conference sessions and events. You can book online from the conference registration page or can also call the toll-free number, 888-833-3969 , and ask for reservations for the Toni Morrison Society block of rooms to get our special rate before June 30, 2016 . Q: What are the options for transportation to and from my airport?

A: Rarely will you find NYC hotels that offer airport shuttle service. In addition to taxis, there are airport shuttles (e.g., Supershuttle and GO Airport Shuttle, which are “shared rides,” but approximately half the cost of a taxi). The link below (from TripAdvisor) offers some options for getting to and from your airport to your hotel, as well as tips for getting around in the City. Note: The Roosevelt Hotel is an eastside (Madison Avenue), mid-town hotel. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g60763-s301/New-York-City:New-York:Arriving.And.Departing.html

Q: Can I just purchase luncheon tickets? Can I just purchase birthday tickets?

A: Conference events are for fully registered conference participants only.
